Routledge Handbooks of Language Learning in the Global Context is a series of edited handbooks providing cutting-edge research on how current affairs and environmental changes influence language learning and teaching practices. Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), the mainstream language teaching method nowadays, emphasises meaningful interaction and use of language in context. This means that language teachers and learners should be keenly aware of the influence exerted by global context on language, thereby making language learning a dynamic experience which both reflects the change in global contexts and initiates a response at the linguistic, cognitive and sociocultural levels. Language learning, among other things, should contribute to world peace and common prosperity by helping to resolve conflicts and misunderstanding and achieve peace and harmony.
