About the Book Series

The book series Van Gogh Museum Studies provides a platform for new research into the late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Western European art and features academic publications resulting from the Van Gogh Museum’s research programme.

The Van Gogh Museum initiates and supports art-historical research and material-technical research with a focus on the life and work of Vincent van Gogh, in his time and context, and in conjunction with his contemporaries, from 1840 to 1920.

In cooperation with an international editorial team of renowned academics from the university and museum world, Marije Vellekoop, editor-in-chief and Head of Collections and Research at the Van Gogh Museum, brings this series to an international audience of art historians, museum staff, museum curators, museum conservation and management staff, and librarians.
